About Shaker Heights City School District
Shaker Heights City School District operates five K–5 elementary schools—Boulevard, Fernway, Lomond, Mercer, and Onaway—along with Ludlow Early Learning Center for preschool. Students currently enter Shaker Heights Middle School for grades six through eight and Shaker Heights High School for grades nine through twelve. The five elementary communities therefore merge after fifth grade and remain together through graduation.
Woodbury is being renovated for a future Middle Years role, but the project has not yet changed the schools serving current sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders. Its eventual reopening will affect the physical route, while the present academic organization continues in the existing middle-school setting.
International Baccalaureate forms part of the districtwide framework. Primary Years and Middle Years approaches lead into high-school opportunities, giving students a shared instructional language across different elementary schools and the common secondary campuses rather than confining IB to a single application-only program.
