About Forest Hills School District
Forest Hills serves Anderson Township and Newtown through six elementary schools that continue through grade six. All students in the ordinary sequence then attend Nagel Middle School for grades seven and eight before dividing between Anderson High School and Turpin High School.
That arrangement gives Nagel an unusual role. It is the only school building in the standard K–12 progression attended by students from every elementary attendance area and both future high-school zones. Students spend two years together, then enter one of two comprehensive high schools with distinct activities, traditions, and local followings. Districtwide programs continue to connect the two schools after the split.
Both Anderson and Turpin provide advanced academics, arts, athletics, clubs, and career exploration. The XCL program adds projects and experiences with local businesses and professionals, helping students test interests beyond ordinary coursework. Preschool, gifted services, special education, and other supports extend the system around the main route.
Forest Hills cannot be summarized as a simple funnel into one high school. Its sequence gathers the entire district at Nagel and then deliberately separates students again. That middle-school meeting point, followed by two durable high-school communities, is the organizational fact that most clearly distinguishes the district.
