Lima City Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Lima City Schools combines a neighborhood route with two citywide K–8 magnet schools. In the ordinary sequence, children begin in one of four neighborhood elementary schools. Grades five and six are spent at Lima North Middle School, grades seven and eight at Lima West, followed by Lima Senior High. Each step after elementary school is districtwide, with no parallel middle-school feeders.

Liberty Arts Magnet and South Science and Technology Magnet offer a different structure. Both extend from kindergarten through grade eight, allowing selected students to remain in one themed school across years when neighborhood-route students change buildings twice. Admission is handled through a spring lottery, placing these magnets outside the guaranteed attendance-area assignment. Their K–8 span changes the student experience as much as their arts or science focus does.

All routes ultimately connect to Lima Senior, where electives, arts, athletics, College Credit Plus, and career preparation expand the available program. The district also maintains alternative high-school support for a smaller group of students. Lima’s organizing contrast lies between a three-stage middle-grade progression in the regular route and two continuous K–8 settings that postpone the citywide high-school merger until grade nine.
