About Lorain City Schools
Lorain City Schools enters 2026–27 with eight K–5 schools, three middle schools, and Lorain High. The district reduced the elementary network from ten buildings and introduced new attendance boundaries, so the current K–5 assignment reflects the completed reorganization.
After elementary school, students attend General Johnnie Wilson, Longfellow, or Southview Middle School for grades six through eight and then come together at Lorain High School. Preschool, full-day kindergarten, and specialized programs for particular student needs operate around that main route.
Lorain High offers early-college opportunities, career-technical programs, arts, athletics, and comprehensive coursework. The principal current change is in the elementary years: families entering the district in 2026–27 use a smaller network and a newly drawn map before the route narrows to three middle schools and one high school.
