About New Albany-Plain Local Schools
New Albany-Plain Local Schools is organized around a centralized learning campus with no neighborhood feeder-school network. The Early Learning Center serves preschool and kindergarten, the Primary School grades one through three, the Intermediate School grades four through six, the Middle School grades seven and eight, and New Albany High School grades nine through twelve. Students repeatedly change age-band buildings but remain within one connected campus environment.
The campus also includes shared athletic, arts, and outdoor learning resources, including access to the district’s nature preserve. This physical concentration makes transitions different from those in a geographically dispersed district: students enter a new school organization while remaining in a familiar larger site with many shared services and facilities.
A new K–2 elementary building is under construction and planned to open in 2027–28, when the district expects to reconfigure the early grades. Until then, the current preschool/kindergarten, grades 1–3, and grades 4–6 sequence remains in effect. The future project will change the age bands, but not the campus-centered character of the district.
