About Northwest Local School District
Northwest Local School District covers a large part of northwestern Hamilton County and is organized around two comprehensive high-school communities. Five elementary schools and three middle schools connect by attendance boundary to Colerain High School or Northwest High School. Houston Early Learning Center provides preschool services, but preschool is not a stage used by every K–12 student.
The two high schools maintain separate feeder areas, schedules, activities, athletics, and traditions. Through its Butler Tech partnership, the district provides two on-site career-technology centers and access to additional Butler Tech campus programs. Those opportunities operate within or alongside the two-high-school system. Transitions Academy serves selected students who need a different educational setting.
Because the district spans several townships and many square miles, attendance boundaries can shape the entire elementary-to-high-school path. Intra-district transfers may be considered when capacity allows, but the system remains organized around the Colerain and Northwest communities. Geography continues to matter through graduation, not only during the elementary years.
