About Toledo Public Schools
Toledo Public Schools combines neighborhood assignment with a wide citywide choice system. The network includes elementary and K–8 buildings, comprehensive high schools, and specialized schools such as Toledo Early College, Toledo Technology Academy, and the Aerospace and Natural Science Academy. Entry to a magnet, academy, or career-focused school depends on the program’s application, placement, and transportation rules.
The district’s Transformation Plan is being implemented during 2026–27. Some buildings are reorganizing as K–6 or K–8 schools, and affected students have received new transition assignments. Bowsher and Start also accept selected seventh- and eighth-grade students through application-based academy pathways that introduce career-technical study early.
Toledo students therefore do not share one universal ladder. A child may remain in a neighborhood K–8 building before entering a comprehensive high school, or follow a citywide option with a different grade span and admission process.
