Fairfield City School District Calendar 2028-2029

Fairfield City School District spans the City of Fairfield and Fairfield Township. Six elementary schools serve the early grades, Creekside and Crossroads serve the middle-school years, and most students then pass through two separate high-school buildings: Fairfield Freshman School for grade nine and Fairfield Senior High School for grades ten through twelve. Preschool and Fairfield Academy provide additional settings around that main sequence.

The freshman school is a full building assignment, not a selective program. It brings students from both middle schools together for one grade and gives them a smaller setting in which to learn high-school schedules, credit expectations, and activities. A second transition follows before grade ten, when students enter the senior high and its much larger course and extracurricular network.

Honors and advanced study, college credit, arts, athletics, career exploration, and student supports operate across the later grades. Health, behavioral, language, family, and school-based services address needs that can affect attendance and learning outside the classroom.

High school therefore involves two campus changes for most Fairfield students: one into the freshman school and another into the senior high before grade ten. The separate ninth-grade year creates a smaller transition setting before students enter the larger upper-grade campus.
