About Hilliard City Schools
Hilliard City Schools is divided into three broad high-school communities—Bradley, Darby, and Davidson—but the path to those schools includes a grade level that many districts place inside elementary or middle school. Fourteen elementary schools serve the early grades, after which students attend either Hilliard Station or Tharp for sixth grade. They then move to one of three middle schools for grades seven and eight and finally to the corresponding high school.
Separate attendance maps for elementary, sixth-grade, middle, and high school assignments reflect how deliberately the district manages those transitions. A family can remain at the same address while the applicable attendance area changes at each level. The two sixth-grade schools do more than add another building move: they collect students from multiple elementary schools and prepare them for the larger feeder structure that follows.
Most students use this regular sequence, while particular programs create limited exceptions. The district’s Arrow gifted services for grades four and five, for example, are housed at Tharp and operate on a schedule connected to the sixth-grade building. At the secondary level, each high school develops its own courses, activities, and traditions. Hilliard is organized as three long feeder communities, with a districtwide sixth-grade transition linking the elementary years to conventional middle school.
