Mason City Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Mason City Schools serves Mason and Deerfield Township through five large grade-band campuses. Mason Early Childhood Center covers preschool through grade two, Mason Elementary grades three and four, Mason Intermediate grades five and six, Mason Middle grades seven and eight, and Mason High grades nine through twelve. There is no neighborhood elementary split; almost the entire district uses the same building at a given grade.

The concentrated model produces large cohorts at every stage. Each campus can focus on a narrow developmental range, while students advance with much of the same peer group through planned transitions after grades two, four, six, and eight. Transportation, activities, and student services must therefore operate at districtwide scale from the early years.

Mason’s international population and dozens of home languages are supported within these shared schools, making multilingual communication and English-language services part of everyday operations. At the high school, the district’s size supports extensive advanced coursework, arts, athletics, clubs, and college and career options in one comprehensive setting.
