About Newark City Schools
Newark City Schools serves students through Little Learners Preschool, seven K–5 elementary schools, Heritage, Liberty, and Wilson middle schools, and Newark High School. Several neighborhood starting points narrow to three grades six-through-eight schools before the district meets in one comprehensive high school. The elementary stage therefore retains local school communities, while high-school courses and activities operate at citywide scale.
NCS Digital provides district-run online instruction for eligible students across multiple grade levels. Participating students remain part of Newark City Schools and work toward district requirements, but their daily schedule, teacher contact, and learning setting differ from the building-based route.
At Newark High, students from the three middle schools share upper-level coursework, arts, athletics, clubs, and college or career preparation. The digital program broadens instructional format for a smaller group, while the conventional network of seven elementary schools, three middle schools, and one high school continues to organize most family assignments.
